Setting Intentions for 2025: Your Guide to Fitness Goals

I’m making 2025 the year I set some real goals and see how I get on following them - goals for business, goals for my personal life and goals for my fitness.

Last year I loved making a Pinterest boards with a bit of an aesthetic for 2024, this year I’ve done the same as well as a vision board and I’m taking a day in the first working week of January to build out my business goals for the year. I feel excited about setting some destinations and looking at the path to get there!

I do love the opportunity that comes with a New Year for a wee bit of reflection and intention setting and I’m guessing that maybe you do too! So I’ve popped together this blog post to help you find your fitness goals this year.

Step 1: Define Your “Why”

Before setting any goals, take a moment to reflect on your deeper motivations. What’s inspiring you to stay active? Whether it’s feeling strong, boosting your mental health, or being a role model for your family, your “why” will guide and sustain you throughout the year. For me, I’m excited to work on some more strength training this year. I LOVE feeling strong as a mum. There’s no set of stairs I can’t carry the pram up, there’s no walk I need to put Charlie down during if he’s on my shoulders, there are no times that I can’t lift him in his car seat out of the car to preserve the nap indoors. It’s a motivation I didn’t even know would be a thing but I am SO happy that fitness is such a big part of my life now knowing how physically demanding motherhood is.

Step 2: Set SMART Goals

Creating clear and actionable goals helps turn intentions into reality. Use the SMART framework to define your fitness goals:

  • Specific: What exactly do you want to achieve? For example, “I want to complete three barre workouts per week.”

  • Measurable: How will you track progress? The Barre Coach APP makes it so easy to track your workouts by ticking them off as you go and creating workout streaks.

  • Achievable: Set realistic goals that fit into your lifestyle.

  • Relevant: Make sure your goals align with your overall vision for health and wellness.

  • Time-bound: Add a timeline, like “by the end of March.”

Step 3: Plan for Flexibility

Life happens, and that’s okay. Build room for adjustments so you can stay consistent without feeling overwhelmed. Remember, consistency beats perfection every time. Short, effective workouts make it easier to stay on track, no matter what life throws your way. This month’s 12 Days of Barre Series is the perfect collection of short classes to fit in to even the busiest of weeks.

Step 4: Why The Barre Coach App is Your 2025 Fitness Home

When it comes to achieving your fitness goals, having the right support system can make all the difference. Here’s why The Barre Coach app is the perfect partner for your journey:

Step 5: Create an Action Plan

Intentions become reality when paired with a plan. Here’s how to set yourself up for success:

  • Schedule it: Treat your workouts like any other important appointment. Put them in your calendar and honour them. You can pre set your in-app calendar with the workouts you’re going to do each week to help you avoid the dreaded ‘scroll hole’ and stay on track.

  • Find accountability: Join one of our challenges, partner with a friend, or work with a PT to stay motivated and supported. Our next challenge launches on 1st January and it’s the perfect opportunity to stay the New Year with a focus. Leave your details here if you’d like some more information on our Barre x Strength January challenge.

  • Track Your Progress: Use The Barre Coach app to keep track of the classes you’ve completed, ticking them off as you go and achieving your workout streaks!

Step 6: Embrace the journey

Remember, we are here to create and nurture a lifelong relationship with fitness and your body and mind. There will be periods of amazing consistency and times of zero motivation, and that’s part of the process. Something I really learnt this year it’s that it’s okay to start again every single day. Don’t wait for a new week, a new month or a New Year.
